Let's celebrate…la mamma and all our mother figures.

A holiday celebrates motherhood

In Italy and the United States, Mother's Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May. This holiday celebrates motherhood and the contribution of mothers to society. It is a special day we can use to recognize, honor, and appreciate mothers' roles in our lives. Today we celebrate mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures.

A little history lesson

According to scholars, this tradition was originally a spring fertility ritual. It honored and celebrated Rhea, the goddess, and mother of all the gods. She had two very famous sons, Romulus and Remus, the twins that, according to the myth, funded the glorious city of Rome.

Italians are "mammoni"

One of the most famous Italian proverbs says: "di mamma ce n’è una sola" there is only one mom. It is commonly said that Italians, particularly men, are "mammoni;" literally, they are such a mama's boys! The truth is that motherhood has a solid symbolic value in Italy.

How to celebrate la mamma

We call it "Festa della Mamma." We celebrate the mothers with flowers, candies, cards, and cute gifts on this day. On Mother's Day, treat your mom with a unique present! You could take her out to her favorite restaurant, or you could cook something special at home!

A super easy recipe to celebrate your mom

We can't say it enough...but food is the language of love! That's why for Mother's Day, we suggest you cook something special for your mom. If you are a beginner in the kitchen, in short, if you are not exactly a star chef, we suggest you try your hand at a pasta dish. A pasta dish with sauce is easy to make and guarantees you an excellent result. There is only one thing to be careful about: choosing high-quality ingredients. How about a nice plate of pasta with clams? Don't freak out...if you don't have time, you can use Campo D'Oro's delicious ready-made sauce. This ready-to-eat sauce is produced by this Sicilian company using freshly picked tomatoes, with the addition of super delicious clams. How to impress your mom? First, choose the right pasta. We recommend mezzi rigatoni by La Molisana pasta factory. Cook the pasta according to the cooking time on the box. Drain your pasta when it is al dente. In the meantime, heat your clam sauce in a frying pan. At this point, add the drained pasta and stir well for a couple of minutes until the sauce "embraces" your pasta well. If your mother loves spicy flavors, you can choose instead a delicious and spicy arrabbiata with cherry tomatoes and chili by Agromonte
