From the hills of Sila Piccola, over the Calabrian Ionian Sea, Salpa produces the most delicious mushrooms and chestnuts.

Mushrooms and chestnuts from Calabria

Salpa, founded by the Capellupo family, is located in Petronà, a little town on the slopes of Sila Piccola, the majestic mountain facing the legendary Calabrian Ionian Sea. As you know, Calabria (in southwest Italy) is the "toe" of the country's boot-shaped peninsula. Calabria is a beautiful region with incredible mountains, historic towns and villages, a scenic coastline, and breathtaking beaches. For over sixty years, the Capellupo family has been dedicated to producing the most precious fruits of the Calabrian mountains: mushrooms and chestnuts.

Funghi porcini

Porcini mushrooms don't need an introduction. "Fungo porcino" is the king of the most authentic Italian cuisine. The flavor and the taste of this mushroom make any dish special. Salpa's porcini mushrooms are carefully selected and processed by hand according to a family recipe that refers to the ancient gastronomic traditions of the Sila region in the Calabria region.

Castagne

Rooted in centuries-old chestnut plantations, this company specializes in processing chestnut. Back in the day, the chestnut tree was even known as l’albero del pane, the "bread tree" because chestnut flour could also be used to make bread. Today, Salpa selects only the best local chestnut productions to offer its market the most excellent products. Salpa has gained extraordinary knowledge over the decades. Salpa uses a traditional old drying process (reviewed and renovated) for drying fresh chestnuts. This process creates the unique quality of the famous "pastilli," dried chestnuts.

Oil preserved vegetables, a treasure stored in a jar

The company specializes in processing fresh and dried mushrooms and chestnuts. From the '80s, Salpa has expanded its activity by introducing a selection of oil preserved vegetables like chili peppers, dried tomatoes, olives, eggplants. Salpa also offers an assortment of carefully selected frozen and dried vegetables (like mushrooms, artichokes, potatoes, and asparagus) and fruits (like berries and strawberries).

Magnifico's selection

Magnifico is pleased to introduce to its loyal customers a small but excellent selection of Salpa products: Dried Porcini Mushrooms (carefully and manually wrapped by Salpa's experts) and Porcini Mushrooms in Olive Oil (carefully selected and processed by hand according to an ancient recipe rooted in the legendary culinary traditions of Sila mountain region).
