HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!  

As you celebrate Independence Day, we hope you’re enjoying time with great friends and family, spectacular fireworks and delicious food!  If you’re hosting a barbeque or maybe just tasked with bringing a dish to a party, here are some recipe ideas for Italian favorites that are sure to compliment almost any summertime American fare!  Donn your apron -- it’s time to test your inner chef spirit!

 

BRUSCHETTA!

This simple Italian favorite is sure to impress. There are literally hundreds of variations of this popular “antipasto”. Simple, yet delicious. You will need grilled or baked slices of bread, rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil, salt and your favorite ingredients. A classic garnish is ripe tomatoes and fresh basil. For mouthwatering alternative, try Agromonte bruschetta’s toppings. You can choose among many options like cherry tomatoes, artichokes, peppers, and of course black and green olives.

 

CAPRESE

For your Independence Day picnic, you could try a classic Italian Caprese salad. The is a tribute to the magnificent island of Capri. Fresh and flavorsome, Caprese is perfect if you are dining al frescoYou need layer slices of tomatoes and mozzarella on a large platter. The dressing is also simple: extra-virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh basil and voilà!

 

INSALATA DI RISO

Another great “on the go” Italian dish is insalata di risoa cold rice salad. This plate is the king of every Italian table in the summertime. Try our Riso Superfino Carnaroli from Tenuta Margherita: It is perfect! You will need boiled, salted rice. Add fresh produce like chopped tomatoes, peppers, corn, peas and olives. You could also incorporate your favorite ingredients like canned tuna, hard eggs and some tablespoons of mayonnaise at the end.
